Put together Uncle Nick's present... and well it is just a bit too soon LOL
I promise this is the last Hanami of the year. The Brooklyn Cherry Blossom
Festival was very nice. We meet with Mr Abukawa and his family as well as
Mr. Akasaka and his family. Mr Abukawa's daughter was facinated with Ema.
Kohei

Updated pics!!
I needed to frame out the vanity mirror, because it would not have sat flush
otherwise so this is what I came up with...
I am happy with the staining so far. I might make it darker to cover up those
black water marks on it but I dont want to get it toodark so we will have to see
how things progress.
The paneling for the bathtub is coming along, I think it looks great so far.
From the hallway.

ok, its really late or early in the morning, however you want to look at it. but here are some new photos.
My parents came in to help, and they were great, but we had to get out on the town a little bit. I know the Japanese viewers of this website might be concerned but (esp...Grandpa and Grandma in Japan) everything was fine!!
Here we are enjoying a few minutes before we order dinner. Ema ate in the
car and was sound asleep, so we enjoyed a nice dinner in a noisy restaurant
without any problems. Emi and I took our time ordering dinner.
Mom had a StRoNg vodka and tonic before the apps came so she was smiling extra
big.
Dad too. The waiter was 159 years old so everything (but the drinks) took
forever, plus there was a mofiosososo dude nest to us who paid his way though
the usually long wait to the table next to us within seconds of walking in.
The waiter seemingly knew the magnitude of the client had their dinner served
before out appetizer pizza came out... hmmm. Welcome to the big apple!!
After
an excellent Italian din din we enjoyed a few more photo ops. Ema came out
and everyone within view, including tables near by and the waiters all couldn't
keep there eyes off the beautiful baby!

We also had Ema's first bath. Nice huh, nothing like nudy bath photos to
embarrass children in the future.
And for those who don't know about newborns... you have to wait for the belly
button to fall off before the first bath. I'm telling ya, being a parent
brings a whole new perspective to a whole lot of things !!! Its gotta fall
off!! and it does!!! only after turning black and hard and crusty!!! Man alive!!
3/9/04
BEEEEEEEN Busy!!
But I have requests for new photos, i.e. not the ones from the hospital. But that is when I had the most time. Round the clock nurses... any volunteers?
Anyway here are some photos and as usual most recent first
New outfit for Ema... yeah thats the smallest we could find! We may need
to look in the preemie section. (no, shes not, just a little peanut).
The dress.
The bootees.
and the hat. LOL!
Papa and Gigi! Thanks so much for helping the first week!! Love you!

This is what I come home too!!!!!!!
He is supposed to be sixty and he acts like a Chinese circus acrobat @_@
This is how we usually look at her
except Ema is typically crying and we have no ideas what to do! heehee

AND THE STAR OF THE SHOW
2/26/04
No photos of Emi and I today, not on purpose, but everyone commented on how tired we look. We were tired and according to most will be for the next several months, but we are doing really well. Emi is much more mobile and is progressing really well. The doctor even gave the ok to go home tomorrow, but the 5 flights of stairs to the apartment will be a problem. I can guarantee we will wait till Saturday, so she is rested and recovered as much as possible before tackling those stairs.
Today Jon and Amy stopped by today. It was so nice to see them and
they were so happy to see little Ema. And will all agreed with me that she
is the most beautiful baby ever! Glad to know I'm not just a "bakaoya"
(foolish father)... LOL!!
While they were there Ema scratched her face so we put her gloves on and you can
see the gloves are about 1000 times too big so we put the huge giraffe hat on to
complete the ensemble
Sooo, Ema basically sleeps, cries, eats, poops and then sleeps again.
Occasionally she wakes and gets fussy then all we need to do is hold her for a
second, her head flops back and she looks like this =====>

NOW...
WARNING FOR ALL THAT ARE A LITTLE SHY ABOUT CHILD NUDITY PLEASE DON'T SCROLL DOWN!!!
Well Gigi, at your request I got some semi-nude photos!!
Hope you're happy? I've exploited my sweetheart on the internet like
this!!! But I couldn't do it twice so I put her shirt back on!
:-P
